Kindergarten „Raudonkepuraitė” ( Red Riding Hood ) was established in 1948 and got its present name in 1994. It has been directed at humanitarian education since 1992. „Raudonkepuraitė” is a pre-school for children aged 3-7 years. Children are divided into 4 groups according to the age in the following way: 3-4 years, 4-5 years, 5-6 years and the pre-school group (6-7 years). For three years children are educated at pre-school groups. After that, during the fourth year of education the children are moved to another pre-primary group, which is aimed at preparing them for the school.

Children’s learning in this kindergarten is based on special educational program. Once a year children are evaluated in order to determine their progress, success and future priorities for their education. In order to achieve a broader education Red Riding Hood kindergarten is constantly in close cooperation with other educational and cultural institutions: Kaunas county public library, Kaunas V. Kudirka Pre-gymnasium, Kaunas J. Naujalis music gymnasium. Moreover, we have the chance to collaborate with other kindergartens in Europe by participating in “Say Hello to the World” project.

This kindergarten has been using the „Great beginning” method since 2005. Its essence is the belief that children are developing to their full potential only when they are able to choose their own way of gaining practice. Therefore, we concentrate on having appropriate educational surroundings, as well as, its division into separate educational centers.

This kindergarten is suitable for children with speech, communication, physical or motor disabilities.

The vision of this kindergarten is to become a kindergarten, which could be distinguished by children’s high level of literacy. It would enable them to express themselves fully, cooperate and would prepare them for school.

The mission of this kindergarten is to provide non-formal pre-school education in Kaunas for children between 3 and 7.
